Rider practising slow-speed motorcycle control

Calm control starts at walking pace.

From manual handling to full-lock turns and cone courses, this session focuses on the control skills that make a motorcycle feel lighter, calmer, and more predictable at low speed.

We begin with the foundations: where you look, how you position your body and how the clutch, throttle and rear brake work together. Each exercise is introduced progressively, giving you time to understand the technique before adding greater precision or a tighter challenge.

The coaching is practical and supportive, with feedback shaped around your motorcycle and your current level of confidence. The aim is not simply to complete a cone course, but to leave with repeatable techniques you can use during everyday manoeuvring, junctions and confined-space riding.

Balance. Control. Confidence.

Develop the precise control inputs and observation habits that make low-speed riding feel calmer, lighter and more predictable.

  • Machine balance

Understand how posture, vision and smooth inputs keep the motorcycle settled at low speed.

  • Manual handling

Build a safe, repeatable approach to moving and positioning the motorcycle off the engine.

  • Clutch control

Use the biting point accurately to maintain steady drive through slow manoeuvres.

  • Throttle and rear brake

Coordinate throttle and rear brake to control speed without unsettling the motorcycle.

  • Full-lock turns

Practise confident head turns, steering and balance through progressively tighter spaces.

  • Slow-speed planning

Improve observation and line choice before entering cones, junctions and confined areas.

How the session works

The session develops progressively, with time to practise each technique before moving forward.
